Wrapped against the tropics
Multi layer wrap with a moisture barrier, sealed heads and edge protection. Every roll gets the same wrap, regardless of grade or transit length.
Getting it to your plant
We are built for export. Everything from the wrap on the roll to the paperwork in the file is designed for the ocean leg out of the valley.
Route
Everything we sell is made in the Valle del Cauca, at our own mill near Cali and at qualified partner mills across the same valley. Buenaventura, Colombia's main Pacific container port, is roughly 125 km west over the Cordillera Occidental. From any point in the program that is a same day inland haul, so paper reaches the port without an overnight stop.
From Buenaventura there are established container services to the US West Coast, to the US Gulf and East Coast via the Panama Canal, and to Northern Europe. Where a customer's routing favors the Caribbean side, we can arrange dispatch through Cartagena or Barranquilla instead.
Transit times vary by carrier, service and season. We quote the schedule current at the time of offer.

Packing
Most quality claims on imported paper are handling problems rather than paper problems. Our packing standard assumes a long ocean leg, a humid port and at least two transfers before the roll reaches your unwind stand. It is one standard, applied to every roll we sell, whichever machine ran it.
Multi layer wrap with a moisture barrier, sealed heads and edge protection. Every roll gets the same wrap, regardless of grade or transit length.
Rolls loaded eye to sky or eye to side depending on your unloading equipment, chocked and airbag braced. We photograph every loaded container before the doors close and send the set with the shipping documents.
Each roll carries lot, grade, basis weight, width, diameter, gross and net weight. Barcode or customer specific label formats accommodated on contract volumes.
Check moisture when the rolls reach you. It is the most useful thing you can add to an incoming inspection. Paper that shipped inside specification can arrive at twelve percent, and it will then fail a tensile test for reasons that have nothing to do with how it was made. Our lot certificate records the moisture at dispatch. If your reading is well off ours, something happened in the container, and that is much easier to sort out at the time than six weeks later.
Paperwork
Colombia has free trade agreements in force with both the United States (the US Colombia TPA) and the European Union. Qualifying goods of Colombian origin can receive preferential duty treatment under those agreements, and we issue origin documentation accordingly.
Tariff classification and preference eligibility depend on the specific HS code, the importing country's rules and the origin criteria applied. Confirm treatment with your customs broker before contracting. We will supply whatever origin evidence your broker needs.
Origin evidence is available under NDA on request:
Commercial terms
Monthly or quarterly allocation against a fixed deckle plan. This is the arrangement we prefer and the one we price best, because it lets us plan deckle across the program and hold capacity for you when the order book tightens.
Single container trial shipments are welcome and expected. Nobody should commit annual volume to paper they have not run on their own line. Trial pricing reflects the run size.
Irrevocable letter of credit at sight against a confirming bank, or telegraphic transfer terms for established accounts. Terms are agreed per contract and stated on the offer, with no surprises at shipment.
Notify us within the agreed window with roll lot numbers and photographs. We hold retained samples against every lot, so a claim can be tested against what actually shipped. Your claim is with Valle Kraft, and it stops with us.
We will come back with a landed cost for that port.
