How we work

We brought mills of our own in Colombia up to what Western converters require. We repeat that work at mills in other paper markets and sell that paper to the same customers.

What a target takes at the machine

A higher tensile target on MG kraft can take more refining, wet-end starch or a higher press load, and more refining lowers tear. A tighter Cobb needs sizing chemistry held in its working window.

At mills in other paper markets

We bring in fiber, set the wet-end chemistry and keep our people on site, running trials with the mill's crew and testing the paper until the reels meet the specification. After that the mill certifies every lot it ships, and our testing ends.

When no machine runs it yet

Some requests fall outside every published range, such as a wet strength no grade carries or a brightness at a basis weight no mill runs. We trial changes of furnish, refining or wet-end chemistry on the HEILI pilot paper machine at Loonshots first and test them in their lab. The producing mill starts from the pilot recipe and test data.

An order for 35 g/m² supercalendered MG found no mill running it. A partner mill became the producer. We supplied the fiber and the wet-end chemistry and kept our people on site until the reels met the order specification.

Common questions

Who is the seller on my order?

Valle Kraft, Inc. issues the quotation, contract and invoice on every order, and takes the claims.

Do you own the mills?

We own mills in Colombia. We also sell paper from partner mills.

Who tests the paper?

The producing mill certifies every lot it ships. Our own testing runs during qualification, until the mill makes the grade without us.

Where does the paper ship from?

Colombian orders leave through Buenaventura. Partner-mill orders ship from the producing mill's nearest container port, with origin documents for that country.

Can I trial the paper before a contract?

Yes. Ask for a trial order in your request.
